Blooms of Influence:
Harnessing the emotional impact of thoughtful, stratigic flower arrangemennt
I am a Sogetsu Ikebana florist located in Kobe, Japan. I've been practicing Ikebana for 10 years, actively participating in local exhibitions. As I obtained my Yonkyu Shihan lisence (Sogetsu teacher level, 4th grade) in 2021, I became proficient in teaching Ikebana in Japanese and English.
I started learning Ikebana in 2015 from my grandmother, who's now a 93-year-old Sogetsu Ikebana teacher. Fascinated by how flower arrangements can make a difference, I started learning Ikebana under her experienced guidance.
My gagoh (pseudonym for Ikebana artist) is 真虹(Shinkou), which was named after my first name (真弓) and my grandmother's gagoh (丹虹).
Sogetsu Ikebana is a contemporary Japanese floral art style that encourages creative flower arrangements. Founded in 1927 by Sofu Teshigahara, the Sogetsu School of Ikebana challenges traditional norms, prioritizing the freedom of individual expression. Its motto, 'anytime, anywhere, by anyone,' reflects its popularity worldwide, where the art form is celebrated for its unconstrained, open-minded approach to individual creativity.
